What LCD and LED TVs are all about

This post is brought to you by LCD Fernseher günstig and LED Fernseher Tests.
LCD (liquid crystal display) Tv sets employ Liquid crystal display technology for producing images. LCD televisions are lighter and flatter (hence the name "flatscreen TV") than old-fashioned. CRTs (cathode ray tubes).

Liquid crystal display Televisions became popular once construction costs were becoming lower. Throughout the year 2007, more LCD Televisions have been sold than old school CRTs globally. They're by far the most commonly manufactured and sold type of Television.

LCDs also have a couple of downsides, new and emerging technologies are fixing these downsides.

How do LCD tv units function? These TVs produce black and coloured images by sorting white light from the image. The light is provided by a series of CCFLs (cold cathode fluorescent lamps) at the back of the screen. An incredible number of individual LCD shutters (millions of them) open and close to manage the amount of (white) light which is coming through. Those LCD shutters also have a color filter to remove every thing besides the RGB (red, green or blue) portion of the light.

LCD Image QualityThe earliest LCDs had dreadful picture quality, including, but not limited to poor contrast ratio and filthy colors. As LCDs evolved ever more, their photo quality became better and better.
The first LCDs had pretty slow response times. For TV in the us, to get sixty frames per second, each pixel has to be lit for 17ms.
In the early 2000s, LCD screens with response times of about 20ms began to appear. That was good enough for computer uses, although not for commercial Television.

Current developmentsManufacturers are trying to strengthen color reproduction. Right now, LCDs can deliver all sRGB colors, but some organizations desire to display much more colors than that. LCD Alternatives - LED TVsLED Television sets have become more and more accepted. LED Tv sets use LED backlighting rather then CCFLs. They have many advantages over LCD Televisions.

The usage LEDs permits the Tv units to be thinner, consume considerably less energy and radiate heat. Also, those LED Tv sets have more brilliant displays and better contrast levels.

Obviously, each one of these rewards come with a price. LED Televisions are more expensive in comparison with Liquid crystal display Television sets.
